Once upon a time at a place called Seton Hall University, two students were living the normal college life, unaware that their future spouse lived just a few dorm buildings away. In 2012, Jill was just a Sophomore while Mike was starting his Junior year. Jill's suitemate happened to have a class with Mike and the two became friends. This led Mike into Xavier Hall, where he met everyone in the suite, including Jill.

Jill and Mike quickly discovered how much they had in common and started forming a connection. One evening, Mike was ordering pizza for the suite and repeated his phone number for the order. The moment Jill heard "757" she immediately asked if Mike was from Virginia Beach. Jill has family in Virginia Beach and would go there every summer growing up to visit. Between having connections to Virginia Beach, both being in the business school, and both involved in Greek life on campus, Jill and Mike were able to form a strong bond from the very beginning.

As formal season was quickly approaching, the pressure to find a date was building. Jill and Mike's initial friendship was becoming stronger and their feelings toward each other were starting to grow. One day, Jill's friend convinced her to head to the library with her to print out some study materials. Meanwhile, Mike had coordinated with her friend and roommate ahead of time to ensure Jill was out of her dorm room so that he could set up a proposal for his fraternity formal. Jill's roommate let Mike into the dorm and Mike proceeded to lay out Hershey kisses on Jill's bed, spelling out her name in a heart. He dropped rose petals at the door leading up to Jill's bed and wrote on the whiteboard above the bed "Jill, would you do me the honor of being my formal date?" Once Mike was finished, Jill's roommate texted her friend at the library to let her know they were in the clear to return. Jill and her friend made their way back to the room and as Jill opened her door, she saw the thoughtful display Mike had laid out. However, Mike had vanished back to his own dorm room so Jill called him to happily accept his proposal.

While Jill waited for Mike to return to her room, she rearranged the Hershey kisses and the whiteboard to read "Mike", ultimately repurposing the formal proposal to ask Mike to her sorority one. Mike arrived back to the room and in turn accepted Jill's proposal. They finished off the school year dancing the night away at the two formals before Mike returned home to Virginia Beach for summer break.

It wasn't until a few months later on August 20, 2013 that the two made their relationship official. Jill and Mike headed to Six Flags that day with a few friends, enjoying the roller coasters and games. As the group walked towards the Superman ride, Mike announced that he was going to stay behind and play a basketball game. After the ride, Jill and her friends found Mike with a smile on his face and a huge teddy bear in his hands. While Jill initially assumed Mike would offer her the prize, Mike continued to carry around the bear for the rest of the day. Later that night, Jill and Mike sat in Mike's car outside Jill's apartment building and Mike handed her the teddy bear (aka "Teddy") and officially asked her to be his girlfriend.

In September of 2022, Jill and Mike travelled to Greece for a vacation. Unbeknownst of Jill, Mike was planning to propose on the trip. Their last stop was the beautiful island of Santorini, where they had planned to go wine tasting and on a sunset cruise. On the last day of their trip, their morning was free and Jill suggested going to a black sand beach before heading to the sunset cruise. Mike agreed, however did not change into a bathing suit, which Jill thought was a little strange.

They headed to Kamari black sand beach, where Jill relaxed and laid in the bright sun. Meanwhile, Mike snuck off as he told Jill he was going to take some photos of the scenery, but was actually scoping out the best spot to pop the question. When Mike returned, Jill suggested taking a photo together on the beach. They walked along the edge of the water while Mike pointed out a more secluded area with a scenic background. Jill saw this as a great photo opportunity and looked around for someone nearby to take their picture.

A friendly looking guy was passing by and Jill asked him to take their photo. The man politely agreed and took a few pictures using Jill's phone. As Jill and Mike both scanned the initial photos, Mike requested that the man take one more. Jill went to set up for her regular posed photo while Mike reached into his pocket and got down on one knee. With the wind blowing Jill's hair and the loud crashing waves behind them, Mike held out a stunning ring and asked Jill to marry him.
